With 16 days to go until the closure of Highway 40, Joe Passanise still wants to stop it. Today on my KMOX show, he explained that MODOT hasn't considered the real economic impact of the closure, and wants them to consider alternatives. He wants you to contact Gov. Blunt and other public officials, or he may try legal action to get a temporary restraining order against the work.
I don't think he has any shot at even slowing down the construction, but you can listen to his arguments (including calls from other listeners) and make up your own mind. Here's his website.
Update 12/18/07: MODOT's Linda Wilson and Dan Galvin answered Joe's points as well as other questions about The Big Fix on my KMOX show -- listen here.
Passanise spent 30 years as a professional transportation engineer for the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic.
