Today on America Weekend, I talked with Boston Globe film critic Ty Burr about his book, "Gods Like Us: On Movie Stardom and Modern Fame," in which he traces the history of movie stars from the earliest post-Edison days through contemporary times. I asked him who the first movie star was, how the 1990s brought us corporate stars, whether having people being famous just for being famous (e.g. any Kardashian) is a new trend, and how people who want to be famous should be careful what they wish for.
